I have a quote from Court Tile Discounters for $18,600 delivered for 2 used tennis courts that will cover a 108 X 108 double court. This particular court is 6 years old, but the fact that the lines are already there would make the job of painting it easier.

I ask because I do not know, but what is the cost of refurbishing the tennis courts we already have if we are looking at buying used tennis courts?

I want to say that it is somewhere in the 30k-40k range....and apparently I am the only one looking into buying a used tennis court! Maybe you are. To find out if there is an interest in the Dauphin Island Property Owners Association Board of Directors buying it for the court that you have put forth considerable effort to improve, you have to communicate with them. The stated purpose of this message board was just that. When Bob Jones was the Board President, he responded to your ideas and concepts about the court three times in a short period, fulfilling the purpose of the Board creating and now maintaining this communication medium. Now it appears for whatever reason this message board is not going to be used by the Board to communicate with members. Your ideas on the court will have to be presented by letter, phone call, at a board meeting or otherwise, as in contrast to the last Board, this one is not communicating with property owners through this forum. Yours is not the only effort of property owners to get feedback from the Board since the election in May. All inquires, suggestions, and comments of every sort have be ignored by the Board since May. If this forum porports to be a way for members to contact the Board about concerns, it would be prudent to eliminate any costs and time expenditure of DIPOA resources associated with it. It does not serve that purpose.

LLL -- you are right, unfortunately. I will make my case through other channels.

I do not play tennis; but, I agree that refurbishing the courts is a good idea. It adds value to the club property, may generate income to the grill, and would certainly improve the "front door" to the property. I hope to see some movement here.

Scott....please let me know if there is something I can do to help you.....Yes, the POA did provide funds to pay for the redo of the pool and all the paint, etc. that we used. We did it with the POA's help and your effort can be successful.....would suggest that you make a proposal, and present it to the board before the next meeting, so they have time to consider it.....and ask for it to be put on the agenda for discussion in the open meeting....

Scott, as you know I also have a home on Orleans Dr so a usable court would be great. (not a requirement as I have access to the courts in DeSoto Landing) If this does move along I would be in to help with the installation. Also, have concerns about the issue of a level court. Was this ever investigated by the board? MLaney on other board. My username is the same over there, so you know where to find me!
