The issues involving the Property Owners Association continuing to operate the golf course are over, at least for now. Keep cutting the grass and move on.
Attention should now be given to the pool, grill, tennis courts, clubhouse, beaches and other amenities owned by the association.
The pool area was certainly spruced up be hard working volunteers last year. With the concern of continuing momentary losses suffered by the golf course now eased, the association can look toward maintaining and improving other assets in a financially responsible manner. Making these properties as attractive and appealing as possible can improve the quality of life for owners, ease the blow of the loss of golf for the renters, and provide some encouragement for the continuation of payment of those voluntary dues.
Discussion here of ideas and suggestions about how to best utilize and improve these amenities may be heard by Board members. Exchange of concerns and thoughts among property owners would be interesting. Avoiding the same demise of these assets that was suffered by the golf course is imperative.

It is quite admiralbe the golf course is reopening. Volunteers doing whatever is necessary to maintan the facility at no expense is remarkable. Everyone, from any perspective, regardless of their view of DIPOA, must applaud this accomplishment.
If this works, it tell us we should have been doing something similar all along. If things get better with the course, as in more members and players, and sufficent money is generated, going back to a more tradtional setting of a golf pro/manager, could be considered. What cannot be considered is going back to a situation where a golf course operation is a constant monetary loss.

I for one, am impressed with the volunteers who are working to keep our golf course open. I see from the POA email, the photos show men and women pitchin in. I am told by a friend who drove to the Isle that the course looks much improved over a month ago. The grass is green and neatly trimmed. If they can make this work for a few months, golfers from Mobile will notice, and come down and give the golf course a try. Thanks to the volunteers and the Board of Directors for this effort... Bravo!! Bravo!!!
